The Weekend + Garden Update!

I love short weeks! Hoping this one will fly by because my birthday is on Friday! :) :)

Last weekend was super fun despite the crappy weather. On Friday I stayed in and ordered food and shared a bottle of wine with a friend. On Saturday I woke up bright and early and went for another run outside! This time I did 6 minute runs/5 minute walks until I got tired. Nothing crazy but a small step forward is a still a step!

After the run I got ready and met Tom and his friend who was visiting at Stephi's on Tremont, my favorite brunch place. Here's why it's my favorite:

They have the most amazing bloody mary bar! You can basically add anything you want into it and they are so delicious.

The blurry ingredients
Even though the bloody mary itself was basically a meal, I ended up ordering my favorite french onion panini. Yum.

After brunch we headed over to city hall for the start of an epic music weekend! We bought tickets for Boston Calling, Boston's first 2-day musical festival taking place right in the center of the city. Here was the awesome lineup for the 2 days:

Saturday:
Fun.
The Shins
Marina and the Diamonds
Matt and Kim
Porutgal. The Man
Cults
MS MR
St. Lucia
Bad Rabbits

Sunday:
The National
Of Monsters and Men
Young the Giant
Andrew Bird
The Dirty Projectors
Ra Ra Riot
The Walkmen
Youth Lagoon
Caspian

This festival was awesome. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out (particularly with the setup), but for the most part it was a really great weekend.

The lineup was amazing -- the two big highlights for me were Matt & Kim and Of Monsters and Men. I don't know too much from the National but they were really great, and I loved seeing Fun. but by 10 PM on Saturday I was FREEZING and wet from the rain so it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. Here's some photos!

Day 1 -- drinking some Harpoon brews in ponchos!
A rainy, grey day 1
Tom being cute and posing for a twitter contest!
My favorite pic during Of Monsters and Men!
A sea of people watching Young the Giant -- apparently there was nearly 20,000 people at the festival!
I was sooo tired on Sunday and stayed in bed until the afternoon. Eventually Tom and I went over to the garden to do some more planting because our little seedlings are all grown up!

Tomatoes and marigolds (to attract bees)
Cucumbers
String bean plant to the left, lettuce in the middle, and snap peas on the net
The whole garden! We started making a little brick path but are probably going to just put mulch down soon.
I love the garden. I really hope these babies keep growing and we get some real veggies!!

  1. Those bloodies look AMAZING - even though I hate bloody marys! And I am so so so excited about your little garden. Aw!
