3/8/13

Today was a strange day of eating. We woke up with a surprise ton of snow in Boston so my boss told us to stay home from work. Wooooo!

I had a big homemade breakfast to celebrate: 2 eggs, a few pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of toast, some banana slices, and some tator tots. Yum.

I didn't get actually hungry the rest of the day, but ended up eating a lot of candy :-/

I also had a couple of banana slices with nutella and a piece of the polish beef jerky!

It was Tom's friend's birthday so we went out to dinner at Granary Tavern. Over the course of the night I had two Sam Alpine Springs, and for my entree I ordered a bowl of the corn chowder and the beet salad (arugula, goat cheese, spiced pumpkin seeds, cider vinaigrette.) They were both okay but nothing too special. The soup was a bit too watery, and the salad had far too many beets and far too few of the other ingredients. Still, I was pretty proud that I went with something healthy instead of the burger I really wanted!

Now it's almost bed time. Good night!

  1. NICE job on the restaurant food choice!!! Only thing is... were you hungry later at night??? Your dinner had basically no protein in it!! Whenever I'm trying to "stay healthy" out I always go for the meat/fish entree with double veg option. Its almost always more expensive... but definitely more filling then soup/salad. Even if you want carbs, just stick to rice/mashed/baked as opposed to fries.

Can I make some suggestions for you? Ignore them if you aren't interested :)

Your homemade breakfasts are awesome but try:
-Having more omelets (use 1 egg, 3 eggwhites) so you don't need toast with it
-Using turkey bacon, turkey sausage, or just plain turkey instead of bacon. Bacon is good because its extra protein.. but well, we all know why its bad. If you want reg bacon cook it in the microwave it cuts off a lot of fat
-Add more fruit - like banana + apple or orange instead of the OJ

    Snacks
-Always try to use fruit instead of bread (ie banana with nutella... good!). Try also having apples more with PB or Nutella its better than bananas
    -Try ricecakes with PB/Nutella

    Love you!

    1. Thanks for the suggestions :) I ended up buying some turkey bacon to leave at Tom's and just chose a banana over bread with peanut butter!
