Weekend Recap!

I had such a great weekend, but I was sure there was a full moon because a bunch of strange things happened. In spite of the weirdness, two of my friends from college visited and it was SO great to see them and catch up.

I'm happy to report that despite the visitors I managed to get 30DS in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! I've now completed 5 days at level 2! It was seriously hard to do yesterday, after a big night of eating and drinking I felt like I was dragging my feet through the whole workout. Still, I finished it.

My friends arrived on Friday night and we decided to stay local and hit up a bar down the street. I knew we had dinner and drinking plans on Saturday so all I had was half a glass of wine. I was even able to avoid the 2 AM Chinese food that was purchased. Go me!

Ginormous bag of takeout
We got home around 2:30 or so and all went to bed. Here's where things started to get weird. Around 3:30 I was suddenly awoken by a huge crash. I jumped out of bed and ran to the window to see TONS of smoke and could hear a girl screaming. Turns out a cab had crashed into my apartment building. We called 911 and ran downstairs to a. see if there was anything we could do and b. because I thought the apartment was on fire. There was so much smoke and it reeked of burnt rubber. Luckily everyone was fine. Firetrucks and ambulances showed up within 5 minutes and no one was hurt. The driver was taken to the hospital but the two girls in the back were only shocked, not hurt. It was a pretty scary night and we were all very shaken up over it! It's crazy that I never wear a seat belt in the back of a cab. You always just trust that things will be fine but you never know when something will happen. I'm going to make sure I wear a seat belt in all vehicles, no matter where I'm sitting, for now on!

We spent most of the next day just hanging out and catching up before getting ready for a night out. For dinner, we went to Marliave, one of my favorite spots in the downtown area. The restaurant has a lot of history -- it's been around since 1885!

I ordered a few cocktails: a dirty martini and "the professor" (maker's mark, cote de rohen, lemon, maraschino). We split the truffle mac & cheese with the table and it was AMAZING. The dish had some amazing chewy handmade pasta, a very cheesy sauce and the perfect amount of truffle. It was awesome.

For my entree I ordered the chicken, which was pan roasted under a brick and served with mushrooms and risotto. It was very good!

I really loved that they brought out all of the dishes with covers on them, then lifted them at once when everyone had their meal. It was so fun!

After dinner we went out to Scholar's, one of my favorite bars in Boston! It was a lot of fun but I think I had too many sugary drinks. I was not feeling great by the time we got home.

On Sunday we woke up and went to brunch at Lincoln. I knew I had a big dinner planned for later so I tried to keep it light. For the first time ever I ordered fish tacos! And I really liked them!

After brunch I made sure to get in my workout and then spent the rest of the day recovering from the night before. Tom and I had plans to go to Stir in the South End, which I'll dedicate a whole post to later.

Overall it was a great weekend even though some strange things occurred. I so loved seeing my friends and can't wait for them to come back again!

PS, I cannot believe the news about Cory Monteith. I keep sporadically breaking out into tears and I feel so so terrible for Lea Michele. I've been a huge fan of Glee from day 1 and especially of Cory and just hope all of his loved ones can come out of this devastating time in one piece.
