NSV

If you've ever been even remotely involved in the world of Weight Watchers, you know what NSV means. For those of you who are lucky enough to not know, NSV means "non scale victory". I've always liked this term, because there are a lot of ways to measure progress and success besides the number on the scale.

That being said, it is always nice to see the number going down. For whatever reason, my weight has not budged in the last few weeks despite tracking what I'm eating very closely and upping my exercise. Luckily, I have some other ways to measure my progress. I've decided I'm just not going on the scale and will check in when it's time to weigh in for my DietBet. There's no point in getting discouraged over something I am clearly unable to control (for whatever) reason. So here is how I'm measuring my success lately...my NSVs:

- On Sunday I decided to take a pair of pants down from my closet that I haven't worn in a long time. The last time I can remember wearing them was to a friend's birthday about a year and a half ago. When I tried them on they went up so easily, and were even a little big!!

- I ordered a few dresses from Old Navy in a smaller size than I've been wearing and they all fit!! One dress was just a tiny bit tight, so I decided to keep it and hopefully it will fit better in a few weeks.

- I already mentioned this, but I ran 5 miles on Sunday and felt great during and afterwards. That is HUGE progress!

- I took a hot yoga class last night and crossed something off of my fitness bucket list! I was nervous about the class but I actually did great and really enjoyed it.

- I decided to take my measurements again to see what was happening there. I haven't taken them since I was doing 30 Day Shred in July and there was a big difference!! Almost 24 inches in total. I'm most surprised about my neck -- 2.25 inches?? What the heck!?

Change
Bust2.25
Chest4.5
Waist3
Hips5.5
Thigh3.75
Calf1
Upper arm1
Lower arm0.5
Neck2.25
Total:23.75

Anyway, the point of this is that there are many, many ways to measure success besides the scale. If you're struggles are similar to mine, create your own definition of success and don't be discouraged!
