I've never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before so I had no clue what to expect. When we walked into the event we grabbed our name tags and were immediately bombarded with offerings of unique wine, beer, champagne and liquor.
We even got to try a limited edition cachaca (a distiller spirit made with sugarcane juice) that was $135 per ounce! Definitely the most expensive drink I've ever had...
Eventually we were ushered over to our tables to hear from the staff and get dinner started. I've never been to a seated Yelp event, so that was pretty cool!
We watched a short video about the idea behind the restaurant and then they explained what would happen over the next few hours. See that red coaster looking thing in the photo above? That has two sides -- a red side and a green side. When it's on red it means you want them to stop serving you food, and when it's green it means keep going!
The meal had two parts. We started at the salad bar buffet which was filled with cured meats, cheeses, and salad items. Basically my dream come true. Good thing I was warned not to fill up because I probably would have eaten 10 plates of this stuff.
After everyone was finished with their salads, the table side meat service began! About 10 gaucho chefs started coming around to the tables with huge pieces of fire roasted meat which they would carve right onto your plate. Everyone had their own little tongs they would use to grab the meat. It was pretty amazing!
All of the food was AMAZING, and some of the meat was even wrapped in bacon :). Of course they couldn't leave us hanging with dessert:
I was basically in a meat induced coma by this point so I took one bite and pushed the cake away.
Pretty fantastic Yelp event if you ask me!!
