Anyway, it's hard to complain too much after such a nice weekend. I started the long weekend with a night out with my friend Hayley. We wanted to go to Row 34 to celebrate her new job but there was a very long wait, so we went down the street to try out a new place called Pastoral. I was actually supposed to go to a Yelp event at Pastoral when it first opened but I had to cancel at the last minute.
By the time we arrived it was almost 9 o'clock and we were really hungry, so we started the night off with the wood fired garlic knots and some drinks.
As you can see it wasn't "knots", but actually one giant knot! This thing was filled with garlic and cheese -- so delish.
Pastoral specializes in pizza, so we decided to order the pepperoni pie to share. About 2 minutes after we ordered the pizza came out piping hot! We must have looked puzzled because the waitress began to explain that Pastoral's Neopolitan pizza oven is super quick -- it can produce 77 pies every 15 minutes!! So insane. And the pizza was awesome.
We also split two half orders of unique pasta dishes. Whipped prosciutto double ravioli with yellow tomato, poppy and basil:
And another eggplant ravioli with squid (this was a nightly special):
I liked both pastas but I enjoyed the eggplant ravioli more. The poppyseed sauce on the prociutto ravioli was certainly unique, but the dish was overall a bit sweet for me.
I really liked Pastoral and it was a pretty affordable dinner. I was NOT a fan of the lighting in the place...it felt like a school cafeteria and is why my pictures look the way they do. Luckily bad lighting won't stop me from coming back!
Pastoral is located at:
345 Congress Street
Boston, MA 02210
